To ensure the sustainable use of resources and to minimize environmental loads, we
have enforced waste reduction and waste to resource in waste management, so as to
continuously reduce waste generation.
Our waste reduction programs and performance during 2012-13 are as follows:
The daily domestic waste production of both the previous period (2010-11) and
current period (2012-2013) is 0.11kg/person. Compared to daily domestic waste
production during 2012-13 at 0.9kg/person announced by the Environmental Protection
Administration (EPA) of Taiwan, our domestic waste production during 2012-13
was much lower than the EPA statistics, suggesting that environmental production
awareness has been enhanced and resource recycling habits have been developed in
the daily life of our employees.
Analysis shows that the waste produced at our plants includes 42% of domestic
waste and 58% of recyclable waste. Further analysis shows that the volume of domestic
waste in 2012-13 reduced to under 40%, which was 9% down from the previous
period. Also, the volume of recyclable waste increased compared to the previous year.
