The annually increasing expenses for EHS equipment purchase and implementation
shows our determination to realize ESH at Hermes Epitek!
The total EHS expense during 2012-13 was about 18% higher than that of 2010-12.
The items with increased expense are as follows:
1. Environmental protection:
As the volume of mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) was higher than the park
control standard, we added MLSS sedimentation treatmentand replaced the old
air-compressor.
2. Safety:
To handle the gases needed for new equipment R&D, we purchased new gas
cabinets, a gas detection system, and emergency response equipment for the
Hsinchu Science Park (HSP) Plant.
3. Health:
We purchased automated external defibrillators (AED) for different plant sites and
established the health center at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) Plant to
cope with staffing expansion.
Projected ESH expense in the future will include:
1.
Improvement and upgrade of wastewater treatment equipment
2.
Replacement and upgrade of office energy saving equipment
3.
Traffic safety training.
4.
Purchase of industrial safety equipment and protective equipment and
education/training.
