A Message from the President
On 11 March 2011, the hometown of TEL, our most intimate partner, was ruined by
a tsunami, and that catastrophic scene still echoes in my mind. Although it has been
three years now, restoration of the affected area is not yet completed, and radiation
continues to affect human health through the food chain. From this incident, I realize
that the impact of damage to the environment, and its restoration, will last and take
much longer than we can imagine. Therefore, I am now interested more than ever in
how to solve environmental issues through technology.
As the company grows steadily, we have increased staffing, plant buildings
and equipment over the past couple of years. In addition to green buildings, we
implemented the OHSAS18001 occupational safety and health management system,
so as to optimize work environment and safety. We also hope that employees can bring
home safety and environmental protection concepts, and that our efforts can make
society better.
To fulfill customer expectations, many engineers work at the customer’s location and
spend an endless amount of time and effort there to meet customer requirements and
schedules. Although I always hope that employees can work healthily and maintain a
balance between family, life and work, there is nothing more that I can do. In this report,
we explain our efforts to promote health to employees over the past two years, and I
hope these can help them to maintain their health!
Beyond Beauty - TAIWAN FROM ABOVE directed by Po-lin Chi is probably the thing
that attracted most attention to environmental protection in Taiwan over the past two
years. By means of aerial photography, Chi presented the beauty of Taiwan’s natural
scenery and exposed the tremendous impact that human development has brought to
the environment.
As a corporate citizen of plant Earth, we are aware of the need to fulfill corporate
social responsibility through real action. In fact, we have promoted numerous
environmental protection, occupational safety and health activities over the last couple
of years. These activities included green building certification for new factory buildings,
promotion of environmental protection and energy saving technologies, a 3-point
personal protective equipment policy, and friendly and multifaceted health promotion
activities. In 2013 we passed OHSAS18001/ TOSHMS certification. In 2014 we expect
to pass the environmental management system certification. With continuous efforts,
we hope to build a green and safe work environment to improve the mental and
physical health of employees.
As an equipment service provider, we have been actively involved in related
environment and safety issues promoted by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials
International (SEMI) and assisted in translating related safety standards into Chinese to
contribute to the safety of the semiconductor industry.
Looking back at the past few years, environmental protection and safety concepts
have burgeoned amongst employees through comprehensive activities. Looking forward
to the next year, I wholeheartedly hope that employees can realize environmental
protection right from their homes.
